Researcher Highlights: Max Meyer

Max Meyer graduated from the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2024 with a BA in Mathematics and minors in computer science and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. As part of AMAAZE and for his Honors thesis, he tested the effectiveness of Zhao and Xu's Gaussian curvature flow-based scheme at modeling sediment abrasion on bone fragments, specifically deer metapodia. Although the results were not especially desirable (that is, their scheme did not quite do what is wanted for AMAAZE's research), his work provides a foundation for future research into modeling sediment abrasion on bone fragments and potentially related materials, such as statues, pottery, and the like. After graduating, he is going to spend some time traveling before moving to Madison, WI to work at Epic Systems as an Integration Engineer.
